Just tested at 20/20. Wow! I’m not in any pain either. Next eye is Tuesday! (After it’s all over I think I might write up my whole ICL experience for the benefit of future patients, since it’s not as common a procedure.)

Watched: Elio 🍿

This was cute but evidence of its time in development hell is pretty obvious. Major plot points are slow to start; big set pieces are irrelevant and don’t go anywhere. It’s just okay in the end.

Waiting to get wheeled into the OR for my (left) eye procedure! 😱

I have a 48 day streak on chess.com and I think with playing everyday and doing three puzzles most of those days I’m actually starting to improve♟️

My ICL surgery was delayed but only by 48 hours, and so it didn’t make sense to last-minute change my PTO plans to work only Tuesday this week; nevertheless I feel like I’m playing hooky from work (I am 40 years old)

We are home from San Francisco, but had a really great time!

A picture from Chinatown at night, an alley with some neat red lanterns strung across it

My micro.blog Reading List display is just irrevocably screwed up for some reason. Doesn’t matter if I change themes, or even plug-ins, it displays the exact same awful way

I Who Have Never Known Men by Jacqueline Harpman 📚

Wow. I read this in an evening and I’m not entirely sure what to think about it even still. To me this is pretty obviously a (perhaps subconscious) metaphor for the Holocaust, but most of the commentary online doesn’t mention it, which surprises me

My new watch didn’t really help me use my phone less, because I love it so much I became briefly obsessed with finding out everything there is to know about Casio digital watches. I might have to find out more about watches in general now.

Step 1: Set the kids up in front of the TV so I can organize the toys in their room

Step 2: Become increasingly irate they have ever spent one single second watching TV when they have this many toys
