One thing I am grateful for is I was extra sure not to be smug when I was the parent of only one single baby, because those parents can be as bad or even worse as the “when I have kids” crowd. Oh “it’s not that hard”? Yeah, I bet it isn’t!


Shopping locally is kind of stressful. One specific guy makes our favorite yogurt. So much is riding on him!!


Step 1: Set the kids up in front of the TV so I can organize the toys in their room

Step 2: Become increasingly irate they have ever spent one single second watching TV when they have this many toys



My baby is an excellent walker for 12 months but has suddenly realized that’s not always to his benefit. This morning he’s dramatically staggering around, bent over, looking like he’s been shot (he’s fine, if you pick him up he’s fine)


My daughter is now in that mega-cute stage where she talks like me and my husband do but with some remaining little kid traits mixed in (like she says “him” instead of “he”). Pretty soon the peer influence era begins


Artie can walk now! And Dede can drum. And other updates.

Artie has been pulling to stand since a very early age, and in fact would do it repeatedly, like he was trying to do squats! He's strong, for a baby, and we often have the unsettling sensation that he's deliberately trying to get stronger. I try not to speculate and maybe inadvertently put the kids into a box, but between this and his fascination with balls it's hard not to see sports in his future.

Family Vacation To Sonora.

My husband took Dede for a weekend away when I was still pregnant with Artie, or maybe he had just been born, which seems like a big difference but honestly it’s all kind of a blur to me. Ever since she’s been asking nonstop if she and Dada can go back to the “footmountains” together — Mama and baby not exactly welcome but not expressly forbidden either. Lex initially planned a trip for them both but I muscled my way in because Christmastime with two kids is short and the number of Christmas experiences I was able to put together was even shorter.
